Monkey-Free Shopping

A shopping centre comprising 150 stores in KZN has for years been plagued by monkeys roosting in the ceiling in a part of the centre where many shoppers passed during the day and night.

Not only roosting but raiding the trolleys of unsuspecting patrons and generally terrorising all and sundry, entering shops and bossing everyone. Had the audacity to stroll into stores like any patron would do shopping, but not paying at the till!

That all ended when Monkey Bizness was approached by centre management and asked to intervene. The roosting location in the ceiling, some 8 to 10 meters above the ground floor, was scouted, and a recommendation was proposed. Centre management implemented the proposed solution after a few weeks.

Last week, during a particularly wet and rainy day, when the monkeys would normally have flooded the centre seeking shelter, never materialised. Proof of success meant that centre management could face happy and contented patrons instead of glaring disapproval stares!
